谷雨正值暮春三月
恰是品春茶、吃香椿、赏牡丹的大好时节
谷雨是春天最后一个节气
谷雨过后再没寒
The traditional Chinese solar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. Grain Rain as the last term in spring, starts on April 19 and ends on May 4.
“谷雨”
寓意“雨生百谷”
Grain Rain originates from the old saying, "Rain brings up the growth of hundreds of grains," which shows that this period of rainfall is extremely important for the growth of crops. The Grain Rain signals the end of cold weather and a rapid rise in temperature.
谷雨源自古人“雨生百谷”之说，这说明，这一时期的降雨对农作物的生长极为重要。谷雨标志着寒冷天气的结束以及气温的快速提升。
Drinking tea
喝春茶
There is an old custom in southern China that people drink tea on the day of Grain Rain. Spring tea during Grain Rain is rich in vitamins and amino acids, which can help to remove heat from the body and is good for the eyes. It is also said that drinking tea on this day would prevent bad luck.
中国南方有个古老的习俗，人们要在谷雨当天饮茶。谷雨时节的春茶饱含维生素和氨基酸，能够去热明目。还有一种说法是在这一天喝茶能抵挡厄运。
Eating toona sinensis
吃香椿
People in northern China have the tradition to eat the vegetable toona sinensis during Grain Rain. An old Chinese saying goes "toona sinensis before the rain is as tender as silk". The vegetable is nutritious and can help to strengthen the immune system. It is also good for the stomach and skin.
中国北方有在谷雨时节吃香椿的传统。中国有句古话叫“雨前香椿嫩如丝”。这种蔬菜营养丰富，能够帮忙加强免疫，对胃和皮肤亦有好处。

2010年，联合国宣布起步联合国语言日（Language Days）。
Language Days at the United Nations seek to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six official languages throughout the Organization.
联合国语言日的倡议旨在庆贺多种语文的运用和文化多样性，并促进六种官方语言在联合国的平等运用。
联合国中文日（UN Chinese Language Day）定在每年的“谷雨”节气，以纪念“中华文字始祖”仓颉造字的贡献。
